Have questions about bringing your own phone
How do I know if my phone is eligible?
Please enter your Device ID above or visit a Boost Mobile store to check if your phone is eligible.
Do I need a new SIM Card and what is a SIM Card?
Yes, you'll need to purchase a new SIM card when you Bring Your Own Phone from a non-Boost Mobile wireless provider. Your new Boost Mobile SIM card will allow you to use the Boost Mobile network.
A SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card is a specially programmed microchip that stores network identification data only. No personal information is stored in these SIMs. It identifies the user to the network.
Sometimes if the phone had been previously activated with Sprint it might come with an existing Sprint SIM card that will work on the Boost Mobile network. In this case you would not need to purchase a new SIM Card. To activate these phones please visit a Boost Mobile store. See Activate a Sprint phone for details about activating a Sprint phone on Boost Mobile.
The Boost Mobile SIM Kit comes with 3 different SIM Cards. How do I know which SIM Card to use?
Each SIM Card is compatible with specific phones. After entering your Device ID, we’ll show you the correct SIM part number to use.
Please use care when handling the SIM Chip. Your phone may require a SIM Adapter, requiring you to pop the old chip out of the adapter and re-install the Boost Mobile SIM.
Where can I get a SIM card and activate my phone?
To get a Boost Mobile SIM card kit, buy online, visit a Boost Mobile store or contact your local Walmart for product availability.
In addition, Boost Mobile Customer Care agents can sell you a Boost Mobile SIM card kit.
To activate a Bring Your Own Phone please visit a Boost Mobile store
Will I need to purchase the Boost Mobile SIM Kit and is there a reactivation fee?
You will need to purchase the Boost Mobile SIM card kit online or by visiting a Boost Mobile store.
In addition, Boost Mobile Customer Care agents can sell you a Boost Mobile SIM card kit.
If the phone has been activated in the past on Boost Mobile or one of Sprint’s brands, there will be a reactivation fee.
What plans are available when I bring my own phone?
Any current monthly Boost Mobile prepaid plan is available.
Why do you need my phone’s IMEI number?
In order to activate your phone, you will need both a Boost Mobile SIM card and the phone’s IMEI number.
Find your phone’s IMEI or MEID (DEC) number by opening up the phone dial pad and pressing *#06# If this does not work, then you can look under the battery (phones with removable batteries only) or in the phone’s settings menu.
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is a 15-digit serial number that identifies your wireless phone. It is important to have the correct IMEI number for your phone registered with Boost Mobile to ensure that your phone can be activated on the Boost Mobile network.
My phone is locked, what do I do?
Your old carrier will have to domestically unlock your phone before you can bring it to Boost Mobile. Please contact the previous carrier to unlock the phone.
Sometimes if the phone is locked it may still be under financial obligation from the previous carrier. If you need to resolve the financial obligation, please contact the previous carrier to resolve.
For Sprint phones, customers can visit the nearest Sprint Retail location Sprint Repair Centers or call Sprint at 1-888-211-4727
For Verizon phones, customers can contact Verizon customer care at 1-800-922-0204
For T-Mobile phones, customers can contact customer care at 1-877-453-1304
For AT&T phones, customers can contact customer care at 1-800-331-0500
A domestic SIM unlock allows you to insert the Boost Mobile SIM card into your phone and attempt to activate it on the Boost Mobile network. Unlocking your phone will not necessarily make it interoperable with the Boost Mobile network. In other words, a phone designed for one network is not compatible with another network merely by unlocking it. Additionally, unlocking a phone may enable some functionality of the phone but not all (e.g. an unlocked phone may support voice services but data services may not work or may be limited when activated on the Boost Mobile network).
Visit a Boost Mobile store or boostmobile.com/bring-your-phone to check your phone’s compatibility.
Will my phone need to be unlocked and will it affect my network settings?

Will all my phone features and services work when I bring my phone?
Please enter your Device ID to check if your phone is compatible or visit a Boost Mobile store.
Features and network experience may vary based on device and/or original phone carrier.
Not all plan services or device features may be available including International Roaming, Mobile Hotspot, MMS (multi-media text messages), some browsers, some Boost Mobile products, or eCare (native account management applications).
For Apple phones domestic roaming may not be available.
What are some recommended tips before activating my phone?
Please enter your Device ID to check if your phone is compatible or visit a Boost Mobile store.
Complete a back up – For iPhones use iCloud or iTUNES to back up your device.
Perform a Factory reset. It is strongly recommended that your phone be factory reset prior to completing the activation and provisioning with the Boost Mobile network. This ensures that all previous wireless carrier network settings are completely removed. If using an Android device, please remove/delete the Google Account prior to Factory Resetting phone. Not doing so will require the Google account credentials of the previous user (where applicable)
Turn your phone off and then back on after you insert the Boost Mobile SIM Card.
Activate your device over a Wi-Fi network. For BLU phones that take the SIM Card with the part # SIMOLW506TQ, they are best activated over the Boost Mobile Network and not Wi-Fi.
Why isn’t my phone compatible?
A phone designed for one network is not compatible with another network merely by unlocking it as there are other checks that would block it from being compatible (such as if the phone was previously reported lost or stolen). Due to this limitation, some phones aren't compatible.
Can I bring a Sprint or Virgin Mobile phone and activate it on Boost Mobile service?
No. Only non-Sprint, non-Virgin phones are potentially compatible.
See Activate a Sprint phone for details about activating a Sprint or Virgin Mobile phone on Boost Mobile.
Can I buy a used phone and bring it to Boost Mobile?
Please use caution when purchasing a used phone from an unknown source as there is no guarantee that it is unlocked or not lost/stolen. Locked or previously lost/stolen phones are not compatible for this program.
What should I do if I have a hardware problem with my phone?
If you have an AppleCare agreement, please refer to the terms and conditions of your agreement. Visiting an Apple Store may be best to help you troubleshoot your issue under your AppleCare agreement.
For all other phones, please refer to your manufacturer’s warranty terms and conditions.
What happens to my AppleCare if I bring over my phone?
